چکیده

− LTE−Advanced is a promising technology for a higher spectral efficiency and reliable transmission. This paper compares the downlink throughput experienced by mobile users in a macro-cell in an interference limited scenario with a frequency reuse of one. Bit accurate link level simulations are performed for the downlink physical shared channel (PDSCH). The study is performed for a single antenna system in specific routes at two different carrier frequencies (800 MHz and 2.6 GHz), for two urban environments in the United Kingdom, and two cell sizes. The paper also considers the carrier aggregation technique which has been proposed since it is difficult to ensure a single wide frequency band for operators. A state-of-the-art 3D ray tracer tool is used to generate 3D channel models for accurate modelling of channel statistics. The study shows that the 800 MHz band has no greater effect on the downlink throughput as compared to 2.6 GHz band, which leads to no additional advantages of inter-band aggregation (considering 800 MHz) compared to intra-band aggregation. It is also observed that a range of speeds can be handled while maintaining good performance in LTE−Advanced. We have clearly shown that the choice of cell size by mobile operators for optimum coverage depends mainly on the propagation characteristic of the environment. Keywords— LTE−Advanced, 3D Ray tracer, Carrier Aggregation, Inter-Cell Interference (ICI), system level performance.

Comparison of beamforming techniques for W-CDMA communication systems

In this paper, different beamforming techniques are employed in the wide-band code-division multiple-access base station, and their uplink and downlink signal-to-(interference plus noise) ratio (SINR) performances are compared. It is found that the direction of arrival (DOA) method and the complex conjugate method almost have the same uplink SINR performance, but the complex conjugate method wi...

Experimental results for interference between Bluetooth and IEEE 802.11b DSSS systems

There is an increasing presence of wireless LAN devices in the ISM band. Co-located operation of these devices causes mutual interference and performance degradation. This paper presents experimental results of interference measurements between sample Bluetooth and IEEE 802.11b DSSS devices.

Joint Cooperative Shared Relaying and Multipoint Coordination for Network MIMO in 3GPP LTE-Advanced Multihop Cellular Networks

LTE-Advanced (Parkvall et al., 2011; 3GPP TR36.814) is the successor of LTE (Long Term Evolution), which is specified by the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP). LTEAdvanced can provide downlink and uplink peak rates up to 1 Gb/s and 500 Mb/s, respectively, in 100 MHz of bandwidth. Similar to its predecessor, LTE-Advanced is an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM)-based rad...

HYBRID INTRA-CELL TDMA/INTER-CELL CDMA WITH INTER-CELL INTERFERENCE SUPPRESSION FOR WIRELESS NETWORK - Vehicular Technology Conference, 1993., 43rd IEEE

Time-Division Multiple-Access (TDMA) and Code-Division Multiple-Access (CDMA) have received much attention as potentially attractive multiple-access techniques for wireless networks, such as the future Personal Communications Network. The standard TDMA cellular network is designed so that physically adjacent cells are assigned different frequency bands, or channels, in order to reduce inter-cel...
